About this workshop

Getting your offer accepted is exciting — but it isn’t the end of the homebuying process.

In many ways, it’s when the process becomes busiest.

In this workshop, we’ll walk through what typically happens between contract and closing, including inspections, loan disclosures, homeowners insurance, the appraisal, title work, underwriting, final approval, the Closing Disclosure, the final walkthrough, signing, and funding.

We’ll explain the different roles played by your real estate agent, lender, appraiser, inspector, title company, and other people involved in the transaction.

We’ll also discuss the difference between a home inspection and an appraisal, what underwriting is doing behind the scenes, and some of the most common things that can delay a closing.

Most importantly, we’ll talk about what you can do to help the process run smoothly — responding quickly to requests, keeping your finances stable, and checking with your lender before taking on new debt, changing jobs, or moving significant amounts of money.

The goal is to help you know what’s coming so the period between “offer accepted” and “here are your keys” feels a lot less mysterious.
